    Food Security & Livelihood

    Our Aim:
At Youth Empowerment Foundation, we recognize that food security is a cornerstone of any strong, thriving community. Our Food Security and Livelihood (FSL) activities aim to ensure that vulnerable households, particularly those led by young people, have long term access to food and sustainable incomes. We believe that by involving youth in agriculture, we can not only tackle food insecurity but also create livelihood opportunities for the next generation.

    Main Activities:

    • Youth Farmer Groups: We form and strengthen youth-led farmer groups to promote collaboration and enhance agricultural productivity.
    • Agricultural Training: We provide advanced agricultural vocational education to equip youth with the skills necessary to improve farming techniques and increase crop yields.
    • Participatory Integrated Planning (PIP): We work with households to envision and plan for a more secure future through participatory methods.
    • Value Chain & SME Assessment: We assess agricultural value chains and small-to-medium enterprises to identify opportunities for youth to engage in agribusiness.
    • Lobbying & Advocacy: We advocate for youth access to training, land, and microfinance services, helping them break barriers to agricultural success.
    • Community-Based Disaster Risk Reduction: We help communities prepare for and mitigate the risks of disasters, ensuring food security during challenging times.
    • Life-Saving Food Aid: In times of crisis, we provide essential food items such as maize flour, oil, beans, seeds, and tools, as well as cash support to vulnerable households.
